FAQ about one-on-one program

  1. What is the One-on-one program?

Our One on One Chinese tutorial program offers participants the opportunity to Learn Chinese what, when, where and how they desire. Our tutors are native Chinese graduates and have at least three years’ experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The tutor will give you a test on the first day of the class then customize an individual study plan based on your Chinese language level and your desired study field.

  1. How many one-on-one hours are taught per week and what is the schedule?

Usually one-on-one tutoring is twenty hour a week. The schedule of the tutoring is very flexible. You can discuss scheduling with your tutor after arrival in Beijing. We can also arrange more tutoring hours if you would like to take intensive courses. An additional tutoring fee is required.

  1. Are textbooks included in the one-on-one program?

Yes. The tutor will take you to the bookstore and buy the textbooks for you on the first day of the class. Since students’ Chinese Language levels are different, we do not recommend particular textbooks until after the first meeting with the tutor.

  1. Where is the one-on-one tutoring held?

One on One tutoring can be held either at your host family’s place or on campus. You can also ask the tutor to take you to historic sites while learning Mandarin outside of the classroom.

  1. Can I earn credits with the one-on-one program?

Our One on One program is a private class so transcripts are not available. However, we can issue a certificate stating you have attended our one-on-one program after you complete the course. Please consult your study-abroad advisor as to whether our certificate will be acceptable for the credit transfer.

  1. What if I am not happy with the tutor?

We will always try to find a satisfactory tutor for you. You can change tutors.
