We at Lotus encourage our students to get out there and explore China. If the sprawling city of Beijing is just not enough to satisfy your travel bug, we are excited to introduce three different travel options which Beijing homestay participants may add-on to their program itinerary if your schedule permits.

| SHANGHAI EXTENSION PROGRAM |
- Live with a local family as their honored guest in this exciting city
- Visit Shanghai's hotspots such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, Yu Gardens, and Nanjing Street
- Enjoy the city's delicious food, lively art scene, and world class shopping
- Students who join the 2-week long Extension Program continue with daily intensive language classes in the mornings and enjoy guided excursions in the afternoons
- All participants visiting between May and October 2010 get the once in a lifetime chance to visit the World Expo

| CHINA SPOTLIGHT TOUR |
- One-week travel tour to the famous cities of Xi'an, Chengdu, and Shanghai
- Visit the fascinating terracotta warriors in Xi'an, one of the four great ancient capitals of China
- Delight in the once in a lifetime chance to check out pandas in their natural habitat at the state-of-the-art Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center in Sichuan province
- Enjoy famous Sichuan food, including traditional spicy hot pot
- Explore Shanghai, one of the most important financial centers in the world and home to fantastic food, art, and shopping

| TRADITIONAL CULTURE AND SPIRITUALITY PROGRAM |
- One-week exploration of the beautiful island of Taiwan, where traditional Chinese culture has been well- preserved and the spiritual traditions of Buddhism, Daoism, and Confucianism continue to flourish
- Two days in Taipei, visiting the China Daoist Academy, tasting Taiwan's famous street food, and exploring the Palace Museum where many of China's most ancient treasures are stored
- In breathtaking Hualian, visit the Tzu Chi Foundation, one of the world's largest lay Buddhist organizations dedicated to community service,
- Students will get the chance to earn community service credit by participating in one of Tzu Chi's various volunteer campaigns
- 3-day meditation retreat at Foguangshan Monastery in Gaoxiong, where students will be guided by an experienced Buddhist monk on how to practice mindfulness and incorporate wisdom and compassion into our daily lives
