| The primary mission of the Lotus Educational Foundation is to foster international cultural exchange through language education and homestay service. Lotus believes that cultural exchange can promote cooperation and understanding between nations and bring more peace to this world.
We are particularly interested in preserving and restoring China's rich cultural heritage. As such, our extracurricular activities and cultural and volunteer excursions reflect our desire to educate western people about China's longstanding traditions.
Part of the Lotus mission is to help rebuild some of China's traditional culture, large portions of which have sadly been destroyed in recent times by the vast changes taking place in the country. China, with its amazingly long and rich history, is in danger of losing more and more valuable things from the past. Many Chinese people have lost touch with traditional culture and the teachings of their ancestors so Lotus wants to help local communities to understand that glorious heritage. Chinese traditional culture is broad and profound with great wisdom. Lotus' major objectives are to promote “doing good” and “filial piet”. We regularly organize seminars and lectures about traditional Chinese culture and invite our students and host families to join us in this. Our foreign students can experience the Chinese traditional values of “doing good” and “filial piet” in person through a variety of charities and senior centre excursions, besides what they can learn from their host families.
As a non-profit organization, Lotus' objective is also to give back to less fortunate members of our global community. Lotus' volunteer programs in Beijing and Tibet host a wide array of projects and community service initiatives, all of which prove to be valuable and fulfilling life experiences for our members. We find all those who volunteer with us, even if it is for just one day, walk away with impressions that last a lifetime.
